Asheville Youth Mission
In 2015 our middle school youth participated in Asheville Youth Mission (AYM) which offers youth groups a variety of agencies to serve during the week. One of the aspects of the program that we enjoyed was how the AYM staff used the ARTS as the main tool for interpreting and debriefing the mission experiences, and Bible study. Check out more about AYM at http://ashevilleyouthmission.org
Appalachia Service Project
New Hope’s high school youth have participated in the Appalachia Service Project (ASP), serving for a week in the mountains of West Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, or North Carolina.
The goal of ASP is to make homes “warmer, safer, dryer” for low-income families. The youth, along with parent volunteers, provide the labor to repair homes of identified families, along with a tremendous uplifting energy to build these people’s spirits. In return, the youth are empowered by what they accomplish by working together, and are always touched by each of the families they serve by their gratitude and new found friendships.
The Pilgrimage Washington D.C.
Our youth have also served a week at the Church of the Pilgrims in Washington D.C. This is an inner city program that provides the group access to agencies around Washington DC to serve each day while in Washington. The Pilgrimage sees their program revolving around 3 areas: Faith, Action, and Reflection. Check out more about this program at: http://www.thepilgrimage.org/
