Acolyte Crosses

IMG_5160

These crosses are handmade by members of the congregation, using local wood.  Each young person who trains to serve as an acolyte receives a cross, to wear when serving at church or any time.

Many people do not realize how much children and youth can contribute to the ministry of the church.  Our little children take up an offering for hunger relief, our younger youth serve as acolytes, and our older youth can serve as lay readers.

Sometimes people say children and youth are the future of the church, which is partially true.  The whole truth is that anyone of any age can be the church in the present:  worshiping, serving, learning, and growing.
