Some disciples of John the Baptist became interested in Jesus. John, their teacher, referred to Jesus as the Lamb of God, and they became curious. When they spoke to Jesus, he replied, “Come and see.” (John 1:39)
And what incredible things they saw as they followed Jesus! Sick people healed, outcasts welcomed, sinners forgiven.
The thing is, in order to see all those miraculous sights, the disciples had to follow Jesus into foreboding and forbidden places. Jesus sought out those who were ignored or pushed aside.
What, or whom, is Jesus inviting us to “come and see”? Is it someone in your workplace? Someone begging on the street corner?
May we see others as Jesus sees them.
