Holy Week and Easter Services

We invite you to experience Holy Week and Easter at New Hope Presbyterian Church.  Holy Week is the week leading up to Easter Sunday. During this week we remember Jesus’ last supper, trial, and death – and on Easter Sunday we celebrate Jesus’ resurrection.

Maundy Thursday Service – Thursday, April 18

Join us at 6:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall for a light supper. Around 7:00 we will move to the sanctuary, where we will celebrate communion. All are welcome to the communion table. After communion, readers will read selections from Scripture and we will darken the sanctuary (this is an old tradition called tenebrae, meaning “shadows.”) Many worshipers feel deeply moved as they sit in the darkened sanctuary, listening to the story of Jesus’ last hours.

Good Friday Service – Friday, April 19

Join us at noon for a “traveling” worship service. Weather permitting, we will walk around the church grounds, stopping to read Scriptural accounts of the last days and hours of Jesus’ life. The service ends at the columbarium. After the service everyone is invited to stay for lunch. This service is popular with families; all ages are welcome.

Easter Sunday Services – Sunday, April 21

7:30 a.m. worship, beginning at the columbarium near our parking lot and moving into the sanctuary with singing
8:30 a.m. breakfast in the New Fellowship Hall
9:45 a.m. Sunday school for all ages in the Old Fellowship Hall
11:00 a.m. worship with communion.  All are welcome to the communion table.
On Easter Sunday, child care is available at the 7:30 a.m. service and at the 11:00 a.m. service.
