On Thursday, June 6, volunteers are needed at New Hope Elementary School to help get donated food into the hands of families in need. Although Orange County Schools sponsors meal programs during the summer, these donations of bulk rice and beans will also help families get through the summer.
Here’s the announcement from the school social worker. Hope to see you there!
New Hope Elementary will receive a food delivery from Weaver Street Market on Thursday, June 6th at approximately 11am. This is an approximate time because we are the last of 6 stops on the route and the route usually begins at 9am. The food will be given to families who face food insecurity when school is out of session.
Once we receive the food off the Weaver Street truck, we have to get boxes off the pallets, organize them, bag the food into 72 portions, bag bulk rice, beans, and green beans and break down cardboard boxes for recycling. This usually takes about 3 hours.
We would love the help of anyone who is available that day! Email me at email@example.com if you are able to come.
Please circulate this email to other volunteer groups you are affiliated with. We welcome new volunteers!
