On the second Sunday of Advent we light a candle for peace.
We also dedicated new Chrismons this second Sunday of Advent.
Chrismons originated in at a Lutheran church in Virginia in the late 1950s. The word is a combination of the words “Christ” and “monogram.” Each Chrismon is a symbol of Christian faith.
The majority of New Hope’s Chrismons have been made by church members, using a variety of materials and techniques. We have a few made by a professional artisan from North Carolina. These Chrismons were made in 2015 by church members.
