The season of Lent (the six weeks leading up to Easter) can be a time for a spiritual focus and spiritual structure in our lives. Normally our lives are structured around Monday-Friday activities (deadlines, homework, doctor’s appointments) with some brief respites sprinkled in. Lent can be a time to engage in an alternate structure: daily prayer, weekly worship attendance, even just regular times set aside for sitting still.
New Hope Presbyterian Church offers special services, gatherings and resources for the season of Lent.
— Ash Wednesday, a service to mark the beginning of Lent with readings and optional marking of our foreheads with ashes (read more here). Our service will be held at Hillsborough Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, February 26 at 7:30 pm.
— A service for healing and wholeness in our sanctuary at 6:00 pm on March 11. This service will feature prayers and meditations. We will pray about the various forms of brokenness in our world: disease, mental illness, strife and distrust among people. We will also have an activity for children. All ages are invited.
— Lenten Dinners: supper in the New Fellowship Hall with a brief devotional activity. All ages are invited. Dinners start at 5:30 pm on March 4, March 11, March 18, March 25, and April 1.
