Local and global programs

Our mission committee guides the congregation’s efforts in serving the community at large and focuses mostly on those who are disadvantaged, experiencing unforeseen emergencies, and families in crisis. The committee regularly evaluates unmet needs in surrounding neighborhoods and around the globe to determine where New Hope should direct its attention. Various community groups use our facilities for their meetings including Girl Scout Troops, Girls Scout Leaders Conference, and NA. Currently, we contribute resources of time and money to:

• Orange Congregations in Mission
• Habitat for Humanity
Presbyterian Campus Ministry at the University of North Carolina
• New Hope Camp and Conference Center scholarships
• New Hope Elementary School:  tutoring, school supplies, donations to weekend backpack meal program, Christmas Giving Tree (toys, shoes, clothes, gift cards for students)
• Presbyterian World Missions
• Migrant workers camps of Newton Grove, NC

Our Missionary Family in Thailand
Andy and Ellen Collins and their two sons, members of New Hope and supported by our congregation, live and work in Chiang Mai, Thailand. The Collins family is partnered with the country’s largest Protestant church, the Church of Christ in Thailand (CCT). They work with the CCT’s Christian Communications Institute, a ministry that shares the Christian message through Thai music, dance, and drama. Andy serves as an audio-visual specialist there, while Ellen’s work as an educator focuses on mothers and children.
