Meet our staff

Director of Christian Education

Mary Todd Peters joined the New Hope staff in 2011, overseeing our congregation’s Christian educational programs for children, youth, and adults. She has a master’s degree from The Presbyterian School of Christian Education and is a certified Christian educator with more than 30 years of experience and passion in youth ministry and Christian education. Mary Todd is a North Carolina native and enjoys hiking, swimming, horseback riding, and spending time with her husband Mark, three daughters, and dog. Email Mary Todd.


Director of Music

Allen joined the New Hope staff in 2015. He grew up in Jacksonville, North Carolina and began playing piano for worship services at his home church, First Presbyterian, at the age of ten. He attended East Carolina University, and graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in music education. Allen was a North Carolina Teaching Fellow recipient. While at ECU, he studied piano, trumpet, and organ. During this time, and for several years post-graduation, he worked as youth music director and chancel choir accompanist at First Presbyterian Church of Greenville, North Carolina. After four years teaching middle school band in Havelock, North Carolina, Allen attended the University of Michigan to obtain a master’s degree in conducting. He is currently a band teacher at Durham School of the Arts and is a National Board Certified Teacher. Prior to arriving at NHPC, Allen served as pianist/organist at Fairfield Presbyterian Church and Eno Presbyterian Church in Orange County, North Carolina. Allen is married to Leah Amos, and they have two daughters. Email Allen.


Administrative Assistant

Cassie Gray joined the New Hope staff in 2017. She has a master’s degree from University of Phoenix with a concentration in human resources management. She came to us after working for Walmart as a department manager for 9 nine years. In addition, she worked at Duke University for eight years as a research secretary. She was born and raised in the Kissimmee/St. Cloud, Florida area. Her father was a Baptist minister, so she grew up within a church environment. Her hobbies include: gardening, gaming, and traveling. Even though she has hobbies, her number one passion is spending time with her husband, David, and their wonderful pets Piik (dog), Bella, Grace, Freckles, and Tonk (cats), and Munch (bird).
